Terms of service

Last updated 18 October 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Digital Brainwave ("we", "us", "our") for using Frameleaf, including the website and everything on it. Please read them alongside our community guidelines and privacy policy.

In short:

  • You need to be 13 or older to have an account, and 18 or older to view mature content.
  • You own what you upload. You give us a licence to host and show it on Frameleaf.
  • Follow the community guidelines. We can remove content and suspend accounts that don't.
  • Frameleaf is free to use right now, with no paid features.
  • Scots law applies, and consumers keep the protections of the place they live.

Who we are

Frameleaf is operated by Digital Brainwave. You can contact us at support@frameleaf.co.uk or through our contact page.

Accepting these terms

By creating an account or using Frameleaf, you agree to these terms and the community guidelines. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

Who can use Frameleaf

  • You must be 13 or older to create an account, or older if the law where you live sets a higher minimum age.
  • If you are under 18, please read these terms with a parent or guardian and make sure they are happy for you to use Frameleaf. Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising their children's use of the service.
  • You must be 18 or older to turn on mature content. Don't give false information about your age.
  • You can't use Frameleaf if we have previously suspended or terminated your account, unless we agree otherwise, or if the law prevents you from using it.

Your account

  • Give accurate information and keep your email address up to date, so we can reach you about your account.
  • Keep your sign-in details secure and use a strong password you don't use anywhere else. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has accessed your account.
  • An account is for one person. Don't share, sell or transfer your account.
  • Usernames are 3 to 30 characters: lowercase letters, numbers and underscores. Don't choose a username that impersonates someone, infringes a trademark or breaks the guidelines. We may reclaim or change a username that does.
  • You are responsible for what happens on your account, unless it happens because of something we did wrong.

Your content

You keep ownership

You own the content you upload or post on Frameleaf: your works, series, thumbnails, descriptions, comments and profile. We don't claim ownership of any of it.

The licence you give us

To run the service, we need your permission to use your content. When you upload or post content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, transcode, resize, display, distribute and promote it, on and for Frameleaf. In practice, that means storing your files, making thumbnails and previews, showing your work to viewers, including it in listings and search, and featuring it when we promote the service.

This licence ends when you delete the content or your account. We may keep backup copies for a reasonable period afterwards, and we keep anything the law requires us to keep. The licence doesn't let us sell your work, and we don't use your content to train AI models.

Your responsibilities

  • You must have all the rights needed for what you upload. That includes the right to use the output of any AI tool under that tool's own terms, and permission for any music, footage, characters or likenesses you include.
  • You must disclose how AI was used in each work and tag the tools honestly.
  • You must give each work an honest maturity rating.
  • Your content must follow the community guidelines and the law.

We don't review content before it is published, but we do act on reports and on what we find.

Acceptable use

Follow the community guidelines whenever you use Frameleaf. In addition, don't:

  • scrape, crawl or copy content or data from the service in bulk, other than search engine indexing that our robots.txt allows
  • get around access controls, privacy settings or the mature content setting, or try to reach content you haven't been given access to
  • upload malware, or do anything that interferes with or overloads the service
  • inflate views, ratings or follows with bots, scripts or fake accounts
  • use the service to send spam or run scams
  • impersonate us, another person or an organisation

If you find a security issue, report it to us at support@frameleaf.co.uk instead of exploiting it.

Moderation

We may remove or restrict content, change its rating, and warn, suspend or terminate accounts when they break these terms or the guidelines, or when we need to for legal reasons or to protect people. We'll tell you the reason where we can, unless doing so would be unlawful or put someone at risk. The guidelines explain how warnings and suspensions work.

If you disagree with a decision, reply to the email we sent you or open a support request, and a member of our moderation team will review it. Anyone can report content using the Report option on every work, series, comment and channel.

Copyright complaints

If you think content on Frameleaf infringes your copyright or trademark, follow the steps in Copyright and takedowns or email copyright@frameleaf.co.uk. We suspend the accounts of repeat infringers.

Third-party services and embeds

Some videos on Frameleaf are embedded from YouTube or Vimeo. They play in those providers' players and are covered by their terms and privacy policies. If you sign in with Google or GitHub, their terms apply to your account with them. We aren't responsible for third-party sites or services that Frameleaf links to.

Paid features

Frameleaf is free to use right now and there are no paid features. If we add any, we'll publish separate terms for them, and you can choose whether to use them.

Changes to the service

We're an early-stage service and Frameleaf will change. We may add, change or remove features. If we decide to close the service altogether, we'll give you reasonable notice where we can, so you have time to save copies of your work.

Ending your use

You can stop using Frameleaf at any time. You can delete your account yourself in your account settings by confirming your username, and your password if your account has one. If you can't sign in, open a support request or email support@frameleaf.co.uk and we'll help.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms or the guidelines, if the law requires it, or if your use puts other people or the service at risk. We'll tell you why unless we're not allowed to. The sections on the licence for backups, liability and governing law continue to apply after your account ends.

Disclaimers and liability

  • Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that can't be limited or excluded by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
  • We provide Frameleaf "as is" and "as available". We work to keep it running well, but we can't promise it will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free.
  • Content on Frameleaf is made by its creators. It reflects their views, not ours, and we aren't responsible for it. We do act on reports and remove content that breaks the rules.
  • We aren't responsible for losses that weren't reasonably foreseeable when you started using the service, or for losses caused by events outside our reasonable control.
  • If you use Frameleaf for business purposes, we aren't liable to you for any loss of profit, business, revenue or opportunity.
  • Frameleaf isn't a backup service. Keep your own copies of your work.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service changes. If we make a material change, we'll tell you by email or on the site at least 14 days before it takes effect. If you keep using Frameleaf after that, the new terms apply. If you don't agree with them, you can stop using the service and delete your account.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and the Scottish courts have jurisdiction. If you're a consumer, you can also bring proceedings in the courts of the place where you live, and you keep any protections that local consumer law gives you.
